Green Circle Salon · Clean beauty focused · Sustainability built in
Our Mission
Rock Paper Scissors is about doing great hair in a place where people genuinely enjoy being.
We believe in thoughtful, personalized service, continued education, sustainability, and giving stylists the space and support to grow into the careers they want. We want our clients to feel cared for, our team to feel valued, and our salon to be a place where individuality is encouraged rather than squeezed into a mold.
And because we believe a good business should be good for the community around it, giving back and creating opportunities for others are simply part of how we do things.
Our Culture
We take our work seriously. Ourselves, a little less so.
Rock Paper Scissors is a place where you can be yourself, build real relationships with your clients, and grow without feeling like you're competing with the person working beside you. We share what we know, celebrate each other's wins, lend a hand when it's needed, and believe there's plenty of room for everyone to succeed.
We value kindness, curiosity, professionalism, and a willingness to keep learning. You don't have to be just like us to belong here. Bring your strengths, your personality, and the things about this industry that genuinely light you up. We'll give you room to grow them.
What We Offer
We want you to build a career here, not just fill a chair.
That means support as you grow your clientele, opportunities for continued education, strong local marketing, and an established salon reputation behind you. We encourage you to develop your strengths, explore the services you love, and find the kind of clients you genuinely enjoy working with.
You'll have the independence to build a career that feels like yours, with the support of a team when you need it. We're invested in your growth because when our stylists thrive, the whole salon does too.
Compensation That Grows With You
We use a productivity-based commission structure designed to reward growth. As your productivity grows, so does your earning potential. There isn't a point where we decide you've simply earned “enough.”
RPSB invests in marketing and client acquisition to help put the right people in your chair. You don't need to arrive with a full book. We're looking for the right stylist and we'll help you build something sustainable.
The Curiosity Fund
We think having interests outside of work makes life better. So we put money behind it.
Every team member gets a Curiosity Fund to explore something that interests them outside the salon. Pottery. Gardening. Photography. A cooking class. Something you've always wondered about.
It doesn't have to make you better at hair or more productive at work.
You just have to be curious.

Our Commitment to Diversity
Rock Paper Scissors Buford is committed to creating a space where people can show up as themselves, whether they're sitting in our chair or working behind it.
We welcome people across races, cultures, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, neurotypes, body types, and backgrounds. We know people communicate, learn, and move through the world differently, and we take those differences and individual accommodations seriously.
We don't expect everyone here to be the same. We do expect everyone to treat clients and coworkers with kindness, respect, curiosity, and care.
We're always learning, listening, and working to make RPSB a place where people feel respected and supported.

A Different Kind of Salon Environment
The support of a salon. The breathing room of a suite.
We don't work on a big, open salon floor, and we don't believe you should have to go completely out on your own just to have a little space to breathe.
RPSB was designed to live somewhere in between.
Our stylists work one-on-one with their clients in an intimate setting, with the time and space to focus on the person in their chair. No bouncing between multiple clients. No competing with the noise and energy of a packed salon floor. You have room to build real relationships, develop your own style behind the chair, and give each client your attention.
But you're not doing it alone.
You're part of an established salon with a clear culture, shared standards, systems and support behind you. There are procedures and expectations that protect the experience we've built together, but within that structure, we trust our stylists to be professionals.
Building Your Book Is a Team Effort
In a lot of salons, you're expected to show up with a clientele or figure out how to build one largely on your own. Having existing clients is always a plus, but that's not our entire growth strategy.
RPSB invests in building the brand, marketing to our target audience and bringing new, aligned clients through the door. We want our stylists spending their energy becoming excellent at what they do, not feeling like they also have to become full-time marketers just to keep their chair busy.
That doesn't mean building a book is passive. We work to bring people in. Your work gives them a reason to come back.
Your part is delivering excellent service, creating relationships, educating your clients, rebooking and providing the kind of experience that builds long-term retention.
Client acquisition isn't entirely on your shoulders. Client retention is something we build together.
Why Curls + Waves?
Specialization is a big part of what makes that possible.
RPSB has built its reputation and marketing around curls and waves. That gives us a clearly defined audience to speak to and a community of clients actively looking for what we do.
You don't need to walk through the door knowing everything there is to know about textured hair. You do need to be genuinely interested in learning it.
We'll help you grow your skills. We'll market the specialty. We'll work to put aligned clients in your chair. And you'll have room to develop your own strengths and identity as a stylist within the RPSB brand.
You don't have to build a business by yourself to build a career that feels like your own.
A Note From Christine
I never actually set out to become a salon owner. I was focused on building the kind of business I wanted to work in and the kind of experience I wanted my clients to have. Something quieter, more intentional, and more personal than the traditional salon environment. It worked, and eventually I realized I didn't have to be the only person behind the chair creating it.
I don't think stylists should have to choose between a busy open salon floor and going completely out on their own. I'm building the middle ground. Independence and room to become the stylist you want to be, with a team, structure, education, marketing, and an established business behind you.
There are standards and expectations here, but I'm not interested in micromanaging talented people. I want to give you a strong framework and genuinely support you inside of it.
I believe leadership is service.
If we grow together, I want us both to be better because you chose to be here.
Community Matters Here
We believe a successful local business should make its community a little better because it exists.
That's why giving back isn't something we save for when there's extra time or money. Community reinvestment is built into how RPSB does business. Through local partnerships, donations, events and ongoing initiatives, we intentionally reinvest a portion of our success back into the community that supports us.
You won't be expected to turn every cause into a sales pitch or spend your days volunteering. We simply want the people who work here to know that when this business grows, our impact gets to grow with it.
Doing good work should create more good.
Who Thrives Here
There isn't one RPSB personality. You don't need to be loud, super outgoing, a social media pro, or a natural salesperson to build a successful career here.
You might be a great fit if...
-
You genuinely like taking care of people. You understand that great hair matters, but so does how someone feels while they're sitting in your chair.
-
You like working one-on-one. You'd rather be fully present with one client than juggle several people at once.
-
You're curious and want to keep learning. You don't need to come to us as a curl expert, but you do need to be excited about becoming really good at working with curls and waves.
-
You value relationships over transactions. Building a book isn't just about getting someone through the door. You want clients to trust you, come back, and grow with you.
-
You like having structure without being micromanaged. You can follow shared systems, policies, and standards while still bringing your own personality and professional judgment to your work.
-
You're coachable and communicative. You can ask for help, receive feedback, speak up when something isn't working, and have the occasional uncomfortable conversation like a grown-up.
-
You want to be part of a team. Even though much of your day is spent independently with your clients, you understand that what each of us does affects the experience and success of everyone here.
And you don't need to arrive with a massive following, a perfectly curated Instagram, or a full book of clients.
Bring your talent, curiosity, and willingness to grow. We'll bring the structure, support, and marketing to help you build from there.
